PSPCL Assistant Lineman Recruitment 2026: 3000 Vacancies Announced

The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has released an official recruitment notification under Advertisement No. CRA 318/26 for the position of Assistant Lineman (ALM) (p. 1). This massive employment drive aims to fill 3,000 vacancies within the state's power sector, offering a stable career path for qualified technical candidates (p. 1). [1]

Vacancy Breakdown

Out of the 3,000 total posts announced, 1,005 positions are specifically reserved for women candidates in accordance with state reservation policies (pp. 2-3). The primary category-wise distribution is as follows (p. 2):
  • General: 1,170 posts (330 reserved for women) (p. 2)
  • Economically Weaker Section (EWS): 300 posts (90 reserved for women) (p. 2)
  • Scheduled Caste (Mazhabi Balmiki): 300 posts (120 reserved for women) (p. 2)

The remaining seats are allocated to sub-categories including Persons with Disabilities (PwD), Sports Persons, and Freedom Fighters (p. 2).

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for selection, candidates must fulfill the prescribed criteria before the closing date of the application window (p. 3):
  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed Matriculation or its equivalent (p. 3). Additionally, they must hold an ITI certificate in either the Electrician Trade or Wireman Trade issued by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) or the State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT) (p. 3).
  • Language Proficiency: It is mandatory for applicants to have passed Punjabi at least at the Matriculation level or its equivalent (p. 4).
  • Age Limit: Applicants must be between 18 and 37 years of age as of January 1, 2026 (p. 4). Upper age relaxations apply as per government regulations, granting an additional 5 years for SC/BC categories, 10 years for PwD candidates, and a relaxation up to 40 years for eligible widows or divorced women (p. 4).

Salary and Pay Scale

Newly recruited Assistant Linemen will serve a probation period of 3 years (p. 2). During this period, candidates will be paid a minimum admissible basic pay of Rs. 19,900 per month based on the 7th Central Pay Commission guidelines (p. 1). Newly appointed individuals will not be eligible for grade pay, dearness allowance, or annual increments during probation, receiving only traveling allowances and medical reimbursements if applicable (p. 2).

Application Fee

The registration fee must be deposited exclusively through online payment channels (p. 5). The total fees (including 18% GST) are structured as follows (p. 5):
  • Scheduled Caste and Person with Disability Categories: Rs. 885 per application (p. 5)
  • All Other Categories: Rs. 1,416 per application (p. 5)

Selection Process and Exam Pattern

The selection will be based on a Computer Based Test (CBT) consisting of objective multiple-choice questions (p. 10). There is no negative marking, and the exam duration is 3 hours (180 minutes) (pp. 10-11). The exam is split into two distinct parts (p. 10):
  • Part-I (Punjabi Language Qualifying Test): Contains 50 questions (p. 10). Candidates must secure a minimum of 50% marks (25 marks) to qualify (p. 10). Failing this part automatically disqualifies the candidate from the entire selection process (p. 10).
  • Part-II (Main Merit Exam): Contains 100 questions covering Technical discipline questions (50 questions), Punjabi language knowledge (20 questions), General Knowledge (10 questions), Reasoning (10 questions), and Arithmetic (10 questions) (p. 10).
The final category-wise merit list will be prepared entirely on the basis of marks scored in Part-II, subject to normalization procedures if the exam spans multiple shifts (pp. 11-12).

Eligible candidates can submit their applications by visiting the PSPCL Official Website and navigating to the recruitment section (p. 16). The process involves entering basic registration details, verifying an OTP sent to your registered mobile and email, uploading a scanned recent colored passport photograph (20kb-50kb), uploading a signature in black ink (10kb-20kb), and finalizing the non-refundable fee payment through the integrated SBI payment gateway (pp. 15-17).
