BBMB Recruitment 2026: Apply Online for Hindi Translator Posts

The Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) has released an official advertisement (Advt. No. 02 of 2026) inviting online applications from eligible Indian citizens for the recruitment of Hindi Translators. Vacancy Details and Pay Scale

BBMB is looking to fill a total of 9 temporary positions for Hindi Translators, which will eventually be appointed on a regular basis following a 3-year probation period. The category-wise breakup of vacancies is as follows:

Unreserved (UR): 3 posts
Other Backward Classes (OBC): 4 posts
Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): 1 post
Scheduled Tribes (ST): 1 post

Note: Horizontal reservation is applicable, with 1 seat reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwD) under categories B (Deaf and Hard of Hearing) and C (Locomotor Disability).

Successful candidates will be placed in Pay Matrix Level-6 with a salary scale of Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400 as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC).

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the Hindi Translator post, candidates must meet the specific educational qualifications and experience requirements outlined by the board.

Educational Qualifications (Any one of the following):

M.A. in English and Honour’s in Hindi
M.A. in Hindi and Honour’s in English
Law Graduate with Hindi Honour’s
M.A. in Hindi and Honour’s
M.A. in any subject along with M.A. in Hindi or Honour’s in Hindi
M.A. in Hindi
B.A. / B.Sc. along with Honour’s in Hindi

Required Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of working experience as a Translator in any government office, semi-government organization, or a reputed daily newspaper.
Candidates possessing knowledge of proofreading and an inclination for literary work will be given preference.

Age Limit (As on 01.07.2026):

General/UR applicants must be between 18 and 37 years of age.
Age relaxation is applicable as per Central Government rules: 5 years for ST candidates, 3 years for OBC candidates, and 10 to 15 years for PwD candidates depending on their primary category. Serving government or board employees are also eligible for an upper age relaxation of up to 5 years.

Selection Process

The selection will be based strictly on a written examination. The provisional merit list will be prepared according to the marks scored in this test.

Exam Format: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) on an OMR-based answer sheet.
Total Marks: 100 marks.
Duration: 90 minutes.
Syllabus: English Grammar, Hindi Grammar, General Awareness, Computer Proficiency, Translation (Hindi to English & English to Hindi), and Word Meanings.
Negative Marking: There is no negative marking.
Qualifying Marks: 40% for UR/EWS categories and 35% for ST/OBC categories.

Candidates matching the shorthand requirements up to five times the number of vacancies in each category will be called for an original document verification round before final selection.
